Astronomy Picture of the Day Wallpaper Downloader¶
This application downloads the latest image from the Astronomy Picture of the Day site and sets it as your desktop background.
Installation¶
- Download version 3.4.
- Unpack the ZIP file.
- Copy AstronomyPictureOfTheDay to your Applications folder.
- Run the application.
Operation¶
To schedule the job to run daily, use iCal to schedule an event to run daily and open the application.
Old copies of the images are saved to a folder within ~/Pictures and can be used as screen saver images. After each new download, it opens the APOD home page in a web browser so you can read the description of the current picture.
You will want to periodically clean out the screensaver pictures folder.
